On the Spatial Approach to Urban Communication Studies

The spatial turn of social science has transferred the scholar’s attention on history, time and social relationship and structures of cities to that on the interaction between spatiality, the social process and spatial patterns as well as the multiple possibilities to establish the social-spatial dialectics, which gives rise to thinking about the spatial approach to urban communication studies. The premise to introduce spatial approach into urban communication is to take the physical space as research object, which used to be neglected by scholars. Based on the premise, the communicative relationship and interaction between the three levels, namely people -people, people-substance and substance-substance generate the urban communication powers, which should be reviewed. As a result, it will benefits the establishment of urban communication paradigm.

The Research of Public Screens in American Cities

While gradually influencing the new pattern of urban culture, public screens represent the urban landscape of modern cities and the new tendency of media development. They result in the new urban culture which emerges in urban public space. Commerce, visuality and repeatability are the presentation logic of public screen information. Contemporary American public screens show the characteristics of ornamental, cultural, intermediary and public. Under the growing trend of postmodernism, personalization and time-space compression, public screens are merely the specimen of new social relationships recombining in the network under the support of new media and new technique, whose form and content are changing and substituting in the wake of the update of new technique. Hence, active feedback platform ought to be set up in public screens, which advocates harmonizing social interactions between native neighborhoods and leads the audience to criticize and reflect on the community, so as to reconstruct the public areas in society.

Science Communication Analysis of Portal Female Channel

Gender perspective and the perspective of science communication is the theory angle which communication research often draw lessons from. Female channel on the perspective of science communication is not clear, from channel content analysis to women and science as the tool of strengthening women vulnerable, successfully let the women agree that the effect of its values, women as a double victims, they identify the ease to increase its passive position. The use of scientific content is still serving for traditional object of consciousness, women are still be watched, instead, it aggravates the inequality of women's status. The spread of science and how to improve the scientific literacy of women, which to choose for women's scientific knowledge, is still an issue of network media and the public need to think about.
